Triptorelin, a decapeptide, is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH agonist) used as the acetate. By causing constant stimulation of the pituitary, it decreases pituitary secretion of gonadotropins luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

Triptorelin is usually given as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. If you will be using triptorelin at home, a health care provider will teach you how to use it. Rotate the injection site. Do not inject into an area of skin that is red, hard, or bruised, or has scars or stretch marks.
